Christina Bickley: Doctor of Oriental Medicine

Christina Bickley

Christina comes to us from a unique background in Chinese medicine. She was studying Kung Fu and Qi Gong in Gainsville while doing Cystic Fibrosis research at Shands Hospital. One of her fellow Kung Fu practitioners recommended that she try acupuncture for her lifelong asthma and other chronic problems. After a few simple treatments, she was able to throw her inhaler away and she knew then that she must learn and master this medicine.

After growing up in St. Petersburg Florida, Christina received her Bachelors degree in Psychology at University of Florida and then her M.S. in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at the Dragon Rises College of Oriental Medicine in Gainesville. This unique school allowed her to study with one of the masters of Pulse Diagnosis, ultimately achieving a skill level that allowed her to become a Clinical Supervisor at the school. She elevated her training even higher by traveling to China to attend the advanced clinical program at Zhe Jiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Hang Zhou, China

Christina is an expert in pulse diagnosis and specializes in pain from any source, physical, emotional, structural. She also enjoys working with any type of internal medicine issue especially Geriatric, Renal, Hepatic, and Shock/Trauma. She uses a combination of acupuncture, herbs, weight loss, diet and lifestyle changes to bring about dramatic change. She has specialized training in Tan Style Acupuncture, and Dr. Tung’s 12 Points.

Her favorite thing about practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine is having the chance to meet so many wonderful individuals who enrich her understanding of human nature and the beautiful complexity of the world in which we live. She states, “It is wonderful having the opportunity to reawaken individuals to the awareness and excitement generated by taking back personal responsibility for health and regaining the gifts of clarity, vitality and longevity.”

As a 4th generation St. Petersburg native she has a deep understanding and love for Florida. Christina continues to study Kung Fu and Qi Gong, teaches and supervises the Professional Herbalists Training Program classes and intern clinic and even finds time to sail occasionally.

For many years, Christina sailed competitively and was ranked 22nd in the world overall and first place in female sailing. She is a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club and has raced everything from Optimist Dinghies and 420s to Lasers to racing yachts…and usually wins!

She is a big fan of the Tampa Bay Rays and the Bucs. Christina is a member of Fl State Oriental Medical Association (FSOMA), Pinellas Acupuncture Cooperative (PACO) and the American Herbalists Guild. She continues to look for ways to bridge the gap to the western medicine community and outreach to the community as a whole.
